   Hello to Everyone...

The day has finally come , I have taken the dunk, oh I mean plunk, or plunge!  All your silly American phrases.    So before I hang out to dry off, or hang myself out ot dry...umm at this rate I will be hanging on a very thin branch in no time.

Come my friends, fans, former not-so-fans(???) Well, you know what I mean, those of you that loved to hate me, right?  Say Hello and tell me what is on your mind, if you can find anything?  No wait, that was Ninotchka's gimmick.  I am all about no gimmicks.  I give it to you straight!  Yes as straight as the Soviet sickle.  What more can you ask from a converted Russian?

Actually you can ask me plenty.  I am preparing to launch my new web site.  Do not worry, no missles are involved.   It will be my next best achievement -to share with all you GLOW fans and so many others.  I have photos that span well beyond the GLOW experience.  Yet they reveal your favorite GLOW ladies as they pursue modeling and acting.  They are very, how would you say?... Well I would say "juicy"!  And much more...

Hopefully it will not be too long before the "webmaster", can get things figured out and we can begin to relive the good old days of GLOW.

It is time for GLOW to make a comeback.   As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first shows, with new DVD releases (which you will also be able to purchase at my website), there are new productions in the works.

Much to talk about!  So my blog is open and awaiting your input, questions and
comments!

Spasiba. Much Thanks
Tanya

I was wondering when Babe and MTV had the GLOW event at the Del Rey theater, you didn't pop over to say hello. love to have seen you there.

Thanks for the comment Steve!  I would have wanted to be there as well.  It must have occured during the time when I was out-of-touch with everyone.  I was away for a long time...

I am glad to say I am back in touch and getting involved with the current events going on... It is quite different now of course, as much time has passed and we have all changed.   Our paths in life have led us many different ways... Hopefully there will still be opportunities to meet and see our longtime fans and friends.   I believe there will be.

I remember this one time, at band camp, when Debbie Debutante was wrestling and she dislocated her elbow and they showed it 20 times. And then showed it the next week. And the next week. And the next week.

And I remember, this one time, they had a MAX MAX MAX Headdrome guy doing play by play, and it was annoying, and made me throw my TV out the window.

      My all-time top GLOW girls:

      1. Housewives (didn't last long enough)
      2. Hollywood
      3. All the Farmer's Daughters

      Least Fav:
      1. Russians (cuz I was little and scared)
      2. Heavy Metal Sisters (cuz they would bite people's toes and not let go)
      3. Matilda the Han cuz she was big and her tights would ride up her butt.

This is by far the funniest post I recieved yet!  Thank you so much for your memories.  If you were a child back then, you must have really got trouble for throwing the TV out the window?  Actually it was Susie Spirit the other cheerleader from season 1 & 2 that dislocated her elbow and got way too much TV coverage for it.

No problem with the mix up... the cheerleaders where all skinny American wimps to us Russians.  The housewifes were very funny.  Kind of the comedy relief... since they didn't really wrestle much.

I hope you realize that the meaner and scarier we "bad gals" were... just made you love the "good girls" more.  Imagine that?

Terrific comments about the Heavy Metal Sisters and Matilda the Hun.  That's the spirit!

Being Russian now-a-day is less of a crime in America.  Hope we don't scare anyone too much?

      Hey There!!!

This is Melody Trouble Vixen, MTV. When my rockin' rollin' red comrade contacted me and let me know about her blog site, I was thrilled to have another opportunity to communicate with those who loved the show and would like to know what I am up to now. These past few years have found that I love to write and produce shows as much as I love starring in them. As some of you may know I co-produced a show a couple of years ago with, Babe the Farmers Daughter, called "GLOW, Live at the El Rey. The show was a big hit. I know some of you might say "How could MTV work together with Babe?" To that I say what could be more fun than creating another opportunity for me to beat the snot out of that little piglet. I have two novels in the works along with 2 movie scripts. You can read my full bio at http://www.tv.com/eileen-womack/person/175793/biography.html

I am currently the production manager for a theater group called "The Brethren of The Coast", a historical theater ensemble. I have added a link to our web site. I love working with the Brethren mostly because we perform as pirates. (Once a bad girl, always a bad girl.) We do a lot of work with Disney, A&E, and the History Channel. We also perform live with Tall Ship events, Pirate Faires, etc. Our next live performance will be March 24th, 2007, at the Swallows Day Parade, San Juan, Capistrano, California. Here is the link http://www.swallowsparade.com/parade.html

You are all invited to come out and play with the Brethren, of course, while I am performing with the Brethren my name is Gwendolyn Fierce.  www.brethrenofthecoast.com

I hope to speak with all of you soon or see you out at one the events.

        James,

You say you are “glad the DVDs are coming out”… so why such a negative attitude?  As far as I know, the reason you can’t find the latest DVD is because they can’t keep them in stock.  Each release has brought twice as much pre-orders and sales.  They are out of stock quicker than anyone can keep them in.  (I do believe there was a delay in the original release date -but that is a common thing in distribution.)

I never got my copy, so I have not been able to do my much anticipated review here.  Just because Major Tanya does not have a match in this collection, does not mean there is any less fanfare!   Okay, a little less on my own personal preference.  But this is as loved a collection as any of the new “Best Series”.

I would like to here from those of you that did get yours and have some good news to share about it.  And for those without?  Why not buy your copy from the source?  The GLOW website is always able to fill your orders… http://gorgeousladiesofwrestling.com/

This DVD series has been the first (or only) release of GLOW material in many, many years.  It has been a lot of work for those involved to restore some very old and damaged tapes to make this available.  They are not only very special, but a valuable collectable for any GLOW enthusiast.

I am still hoping to get volume 3 and the new “Early Years” DVDs.  I will be happy to review them as soon as I can.  So chin up and no more griping!  It is positive energy that moves things forward…

I am shocked to see no one is carrying the GLOW Vulume 3 DVD. I would accept the "popular" theory but it is currently ranked #25,966 in DVDs on Amazon. Which is low for a new DVD. Which leads me to believe the publicity is weak and the distribution is weaker. I found out about Volume 1 after reviews of the DVD on some web sites. I only saw one review of Volume 2 and now this 3rd volume sort of came out without a peep. Is it really out or was it postponed a little and that is why no one is showing it in-stock? Anyone confirm they actually have a copy they bought at a store (real or online)? Thanks and keep me updated. I love this site.

Welcome DREAM!  It is so nice to have a lady fan share some memories and show interest.  Thank you for leaving your comment.

I sounds like you watched the early season’s of GLOW.  There were 4 season’s total.  1 & 2 consisted of most of the original cast -characters like:  Americana; Tina Ferrari; the Cheerleaders – Susie Spirit and Debbie Debutant; the silly California Doll; and the first 2 Farmer’s Daughters; and the outrageous Heavy Metal sisters; the sizzling Spanish Red; and the infamous Col. Ninotchka; and of course the always famous Hollywood. These were among the Ladies that would be found in the few video compilations available over the many years.  (You might have a found on eBay and pre-Internet days they could be found in a few video stores).

Seasons 3 & 4 brought a mostly new cast of characters:  New Cheerleaders - Cheyenne Cher, Vicky Victory; Comic book Superheroes – Thunderbolt and Lightning; the youngest farmer’s daughter – Babe; a newer Russian (myself) – Major Tanya; Godiva; and a slew of others.  A handful of the earlier ladies continued as well:  Mt. Fiji ; Sally –TFD; and Ninotchka; Hollywood … There were even reincarnations of Dementia, Corporal Kelly, and Sara and Mabel.  It was a very exciting time to be in GLOW!

The season began with Col Ninotchka holding the “GLOW” crown.  I, Tanya, came from the Soviet Union to support her big victory and partner with her in many great Tag Team matches!  Soon everyone wanted to de-throne the Soviet Champion… The “Run for the Rubies” ensued when Ninotchka boldly advocated her crown, defected from the Soviet and ran off to Paris for a break!  Big drama right along GLOW ringside…

It was a long series of match challenges and eliminations before Cheyenne Cher, a unlikely victor, managed to capture the crown for her own.  It was the Indian/cheerleader - Cheyenne Cher that finished off season 4 as the last GLOW Crown Champion… There were not a lot of changes in the “Crown-Championship” like we see in other Wrestling promotions, but more building drama and back-story all in the classic GLOW style.

Hopefully you can obtain enough of the latter GLOW shows to watch and feel the mood of the competition.  It was very exciting at the time.  Unfortunately a majority of the original GLOW master tapes were lost over the years.  The current owner Ursula Hayden/Babe the farmer’s Daughter did not obtain the GLOW company until 2001.  However she has worked very hard to restore and make available some of the surviving tapes.  As well as developing a future for a New GLOW…

Dream, I hope you can get a feel for the many adventures that GLOW has to offer in the way of memories for any fan.  I suggest you visit the GLOW Yahoo Group site that provides it’s members with a large array of character photos from season’s 3 & 4.  It is an introduction to my photo collection from behind the scenes and beyond.  Tanya’s portfolio is a great way to get a feel for the many GLOW characters and what they looked like at the time.  I am still in development of a website that will present all of my collection of photos along with some of the other ladies and stories, etc.  Check the link and join the Yahoo site for a great start. http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/GLOWPhotoPortfolio-Tanya/

I look forward to more comments from you here on my BLOG… Feel free to ask more questions and share your discovery of the ongoing GLOW experience!

I seem to remember Cheyenne Cher losing the GLOW Crown to Daisy in the last few episodes of the final season of GLOW, and then either the very last episode or next to last episode, Mt. Fiji ending the series as the final GLOW champion. Maybe I was dreaming. Either way, I am extremely happy GLOW is on DVD. I have rented a few of the discs from Blockbuster Online and have so much fun remembering the all the Friday nights spent watching all the name calling (Pink Elephant), comic skits (mirror mirror on the wall, who's the most conceited GLOW girl of all), and just flat out hilarious wrestling of the past. I can't wait to get the entire series on DVD. Here's hoping for full season sets of GLOW.
