Hello GLOW friends and fans,
I am sorry it has been some time since I have posted any new messages. Some time ago I added a slide show with some of my favorite GLOW photos. I have since found out that these GoDaddy Blog sites are not compatible with "flash" programs. I did leave it here for awhile hoping that you might discover that going to the “slide” website you could view it there. But it does not seem that many of you have done this, so I will remove it rather than anyone thinking I’ve left a broken slide show here.
This Blog was created as a precursor to what I had hoped would be a very special website of Tanya’s entire photo portfolio, and many fun and interesting stories of the times with GLOW. Unfortunately I had bad luck with webmasters that drug the development of such a site into over a year, and then withdrew completely. Other webmasters have not been very forthcoming either.
The necessary resources required to put up and maintain a site as I had envisioned have since passed. Even though I have not seen enough interest to undertake such a project farther, I will never give up on the enthusiasm of GLOW fans. You are the greatest!
For those of you that have still not visited and joined the place where the conversations and imaginations of the fans continue, you really must go the Yahoo Sport Group. This is a place dedicated to GLOW. There is also a vast collection of GLOW photos from my collection in a variety of albums. http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/GLOWPhotoPortfolio-Tanya/
I have begun a MySpace page in honor of Tanya and the days of GLOW. My hope is that I can find and discover those interested in sharing the adventures of GLOW, as well as viewing some of my incredible collection of photos from that time - (still never seen by the public.)
Here is another chance to converse with me, enjoy my stories, and let me know what you think? I would like to have you make a request to join my friends list, if you are a regular on MySpace, and then you can correspond and view all the photo albums anytime. (Plus I can know about your interest, etc.) http://www.myspace.com/tanya_noelle
This GoDaddy Blog was never designed to be more than a temporary place. I would prefer to see the interest for keeping GLOW alive and well continue with the successful Yahoo Sport Group and the fans discussions of all things GLOW there; as well as meeting more of you through MySpace. For those of you that prefer not to participate in either of the above options, I will leave this Blog available.
Maybe the future will still bring an entire website for this purpose, it is really up to the support of the fans… So, please show your interest, I always appreciate it.
Much Thanks, Tanya

Tanya and MTV at the Swallows Day Parade!
It is true, I am teaming with my former comrade and joining the pirate brigade.
Actually it is called "The Brethren of the Coast". We will be in full Historic costume and character as we fall back in time to the young America of 1812. Image them adopting a Russian? Well I will not quite be Russian for this outing, but a fellow fighting women along with MTV's "Gwendolyn Fierce" persona.
It is all very exciting and a great opportunity to entertain and interact with the crowds. Both MTV and I would be thrilled and honored to have our GLOW fans come and cheer us on, particpate in the fun of the festive day. You can probably catch us up-close at the end of the parade. We will be taking some publicity photos and would love to see you there!
Parade info: http://www.swallowsparade.com/parade.html
Here are some recent photos of us in our pirate period costumes.

Hope to see you there!

Tanya’s Opinion: Best wrestlers in GLOW…[Season’s 3 & 4]
I was asked by one of the fans on the GLOW Yahoo group site: “Tanya, not counting yourself, who in your opinion was the best wrestler of all the GLOW girls? You don't have to keep it to THE best if you have several favorites.”
I realized this deserved some thought, and I elaborated and wrote this in response. Seemed like it would be nice to include it here on the BLOG for those of you that have not joined the Yahoo group yet…
There would be two categories or ways to approach answering such a question. One would be the wrestlers I appreciated for their skills, approach and style. –Regardless to whether or not I ever wrestled them in a full on match. Two: the best of the women I actually got to wrestle, which would only be the good girls, as I am not considering sparing or small spats.
So let me see…
From my perspective I admit I am of course biased as one of Kitty’s Killers.
First off I would mention the amazing skills of Godiva. She had it all. Her background in gymnastics and the flexibility allowed her to move and flow in an amazing smoothness. She could fly with the best of them and create her own unique moves to best serve the combination of strength and prowess. Her statuses build and power made her a formable opponent in every match and any situation. The style of calm, cool and superior played well also as she dominated her matches with moves. Being a British Bombshell in a most intelligent way!
Col. Ninotchka, years ahead of the rest in experience and honed skills. She pushed herself to new and more difficult moves all the time. She also had a long, fluid way of moving and the flexibility of a dancer shown in the way she moved. Her strength was unquestioned and her “cross pin” a legend. Too bad she didn’t hold up to these standards when she went to the Parisian way. I never felt the same commitment from her as an opponent as I did when we tagged together. We never had the kind of Tanya verses Ninotchka match that we and the fans deserved to see…
Hollywood is a legend of a different kind. Clever, buoyant, light and playful approaches worked well for her. She had advanced experience and well honed skills from the earlier seasons, but she never stagnated. Every match was fresh, skillful and filled with her personality. She did her thing with ease and smarts, but always entertained the viewer. She was a great team worker too. Just look at the way she magnified her partner Broadway Rose, without ever stealing the show from her (which she could have done easily.) Then the rise of a perfect tag team once she and MTV joined forces. Two more different wrestlers there couldn’t have been -yet when they tagged it seemed they were the perfect fit of a pair. She honored the place of the person she teamed with, not so much as a humbling approach, but one of understanding and making the most of their strengths along with her own boundless abilities. A much smarter lady then most would ever know!
A quick mention of MTV in and of her own skills and approach. She was very resourceful and a free spirit -that worked well for her. And oh so entertaining!
As for the ladies of Stallone’s Sweethearts… I must mention Roxy as she was the only one to ever take me out in a pin. Not by strength but by cunning. She never lost sight of the prize and watched carefully for any opening and managed to create her own in the least expected moments. Quick to come back from a hard hit, tireless and steadfast. She just kept it going and going. Her skills and strength grew over the seasons and she won the respect of the crowd.
Cheyenne Cher was a unique opponent and adventurous to bout with. This lady combined her acrobatic cheerleading skills with a willingness to fly and bounce and roll in ways no other lady could. She was so inventive and quick. I was more powerful than her and not threatened, yet she would surely put me through a lot of tumbling, falling and twists. A surprise for the [GLOW]crown in one respect and deserving of, for her inventiveness in the other.
Finally we come to the fun to pulverize ladies. They were obviously out matched by my shear size and strength, but you would never see any hesitation from their commitment and willingness to keep coming back for more punishment. Lightning seemed to really move and fly with the belief she was an indestructible super hero. Strong in her own body awareness and balance and willing to jump and fly ever higher than her skills allowed. This approach served her well in the years after GLOW as she became a very formidable Professional Wrestler all around the world. In my experience with her, I knew I would get run-a-round; jumped and climbed on; and tossed around in fun, but would power her out for the finish. It was bound to be fun, fast and interesting.
The other lady that I truly enjoyed taking out, Babe the Farmer’s Daughter. She was more methodical in approach with our matches than I observed with others. She really came into it with a hope and belief she could maybe win. Her naïveté served us both well and she put up her best fight. Babe pushed herself always, not quick to give up and was willing to take the beating I was happy to dish out to her. She did not resort to the silliness seen in some of her tag team matches, which would not have worked well in our Major Tanya pulverizing Babe matches. (I think our matches were some of Babe’s best.)
I had many favorite matches beyond the ones mentioned above, but to keep these ladies as standouts I will leave it at this. It was an interesting process to go back and rethink some of my favorites and best -both as opponents and teammates. Thanks for asking me to consider this.

GLOW’s very own Tanya reviews:
THE VERY BEST OF GLOW VOL. 2 FEATURING…
Ninotchka vs. Widow
Babe & Tulsa vs. Beastie & Daisy
Tiffany Mellon vs. Major Tanya
Mt. Fiji with Thunderbolt & Lightning vs.
Big Bad Mama with Hollywood & MTV
RUN FOR THE RUBIES!
Cheyenne Cher vs. Godiva
BONUS MATCHES!
Tina vs. Attaché -fight to the finish!
PLUS! Ashley Cartier & The California Doll vs. Angel & The Soul Patrol
More fun and GLOW antics are a guarantee with the 2nd installment of The Very Best of Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. Volume 2 is a great extension to the exciting volume 1. Packed with even more style and GLOW Charm!
Just a look at the DVD’s cover and back is a memory booster. Photos of all the ladies in the matches featured are strewed along the match lineup. Screenshot actions pictures and an Aaauugh or two for fun. Collectors will get a great kick out of these treats before even opening the package!
Oh but the thrill of the intro when the announcer begins with, “the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling live from the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas Nevada….” Backed by the energetic music and the opening montage and into the group rap. It is all so classic and just as much fun every time you play it! This is a show to watch from beginning to end. A true mix of contrasts… The Good Girls are sweet and lovely and the Bad Girls are really bad.
Even the converted Soviet Ninotchka, that here represents Stallone’s Sweethearts, still seems to be referred to as pretty bad. I never heard so many insults and mean descriptions ever used on a “so called good girl.” But as the trader to Kitty’s Killers and her then Soviet partner Major Tanya, the bad blood energy continued. Though it is Widow Women in Black that is called upon to shame the Parisian Madame Ninotchka, all the built up karma is working into the ring too. Yes, it is a quick match as this Russian would dab it the “Widow Wink match”, ‘cause if you close your eyes for more than a second, you’ll have missed it! Actually there is plenty of action even with Widow using her poisonous tricks to get the new Pink Pride under the influence of more than a sip of champagne? Soon they are battling it out beyond the boundaries of the ring, which may or may not be strategy…
The visual line-up alone in the next match is one of contrasts: The lovely dainty and flirty character of Tulsa and Babe the Farmer’s Daughter, up against the tall and large Beastie the Road Warrior and Daisy! No apologies from these Killers. They are there to dish out the moves and punishment to the sweetie grapplers full out and dirty too. An unusual double suplex is a treat to see by the two powerhouses, just seemed a bit gratuitous used on little Babe alone? The die hard spirit of the country girls keeps this match going long after you think it is over. These four manage to fight outside the ring involving a few audience members laps and taking 3 out of 4 pillars with them (no censoring in this cut, as we see them use the debris to fuel the fight…) Surprising if anyone can stand including the arena, after all the aggression here.
But stand up and salute! You don’t want to miss the singles match of bubbled headed Tiffany Mellon against the one and only Soviet Powerhouse Major Tanya. Yours truly delivers plenty of Russian brutality to the silly bombshell. Let me just say she is not likely to stand or walk away from this match.
So much already, but there is more… and the match that really got this Russian going was the Free-for-All team line up. Even more contrast in this line up: Big Bad Mama, Hollywood and MTV against Mt. Fiji, and the little super heroes Thunderbolt and Lightning. What makes this match an extra high action threat? They are all wrestling at the same time. No tag team rules here, and no end with first fall either. We see some of the high flying moves with Lightning off the turnbuckle, and we see the street smarts style of Hollywood. Meanwhile the Giants are throwing their wait around as we see some body rams and crushes that made me gasp. It is hard to predict where this match will go as the energy seems to build the more they battle it out. Too much fun to watch, even Mt. Fiji losing her skirt! Classic GLOW antics with a lot of in and out of the ring action...
For the more formal spin on the wrestling gig, the new GLOW commissioner and Jackie Stallone herself (Good Girl manager) are ringside. It is the last installment of the “Run for the Rubies” as the finalists go for the top prize. Lady Godiva seemingly the favorite with both skill and power in her arsenal, is a serious contender ready to take ownership of the Crown. The Indian Cheerleader Cheyenne Cher, though undersized in comparison, has proved a clever opponent with both extreme nibble skill and creative moves of her own design. This is a eyeful of the GLOW wrestling competition at its best. These ladies are both there to win. They pull out the stops and deliver great wrestling sport and entertainment. –With plenty of twists all the way to the end. Whether you remember the outcome or not this is a must see classic match!
The Bonus matches are an extra treat indeed. For they not only bring the earlier season Ladies into your newer GLOW collection, but show yet another angle on contrast. The efforts at a highly technical match by Tina Ferrari and Attaché.
This match was likely a GLOW first as it was a no pin falls, submission match. With the added excitement of “anything goes”. It is both a display of many classic wrestling holds, but with an unique approach when applied by two petit ladies with great physical prowess. As the Russian, that had the opportunity to wrestle Tina Ferrari in POWW (she was then called Nina and I was Natasha) seeing this match was a special treat. Attaché who was a very skilled manager and wrestler (as Gene Beret in POWW). She had the added insight of Tina/Nina’s wrestling style from the experience of such matches as this one… as both of these ladies later journeyed onto the more exclusive Pro Wrestling styles often seen by the men in the WWE. I could not help seeing this match as a precursor of what these two Ladies would later pursue in their wrestling careers. This is definitely a must have for your collection and a must see for all fans! I had to watch this one more than once…
Fans, collectors and curious alike are in for another great trip down memory lane with The Best of GLOW, volume 2.

Hello GLOW fans and Blog readers!
I want to make a special post here to let everyone know that I was not able to make my pre-release review of the Volume 2 edition of “The Best of GLOW” DVD. It was delayed and held up in the United States Post, several times. Really! -I will not support any kind of conspiracy theory but do find this to be rather strange…
Many of you have already obtained and are enjoying viewing your DVD’s. I am very glad that the delivery situation was an isolated incident occurring only in Tanya’s world! But I will still be posting a review once my copy is obtained and I can make a full updated view of the current matches and bonuses available.
Hopefully the messenger will not have any further complications in delivering this highly prized DVD. (I have not been able to find any available copies at the local retailers.) It is a hot item!
Please feel free to post your own comments and let us know how you are enjoying this special collection. Surely there are some fans of the Tanya vs. Tiffany match!

I will be checking back…
Thanks for your support,

"…I have some fond memories of watching pro wrestling during the 80s. I couldn't wait until the weekend when …there was the incredible World Class stuff…
...With all that great wrestling, the show I really wanted to see came on late Saturday night and was called Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. I'm not ashamed to admit that GLOW was a camp classic that truly had it all…
…The gimmick characters that the women of GLOW portrayed stuck with me to this day, including Hollywood, my all time favorite wrestling diva…
… Other personal favorites include the psychotic Dementia, the naïve Farmer's Daughter, and the bizarre Big Bad Mama. GLOW was even years ahead of its time with a "reality" show within the wrestling show. That's right, long before Tough Enougn or The Ultimate Fighter, Life in the GLOW House was a weekly staple in my life….
…Big Vision picked an entertaining episode which shows how great GLOW was, …Wonderful material…
…A true blast from the past, Big Vision's The Very Best of GLOW was a sight for sore eyes… Everything that I loved about the show was here in rare form. The quality was top notch and brought me back to another time in my life that I couldn't wait to stay up past midnight on a Saturday…
…anyone who was a fan of the show back in the 1980s or has heard jokes stolen from the show at cocktails parties, this could be quite a treat….good enough to make me want more, that's a great sign of a good disc…"

GLOW’s very own Tanya reviews:
THE VERY BEST OF GLOW VOL. 1
FEATURING…
Babe "The Farmer’s Daughter" vs. MTV "Melody Trouble Vixen"
Hollywood vs. Roxy Astor
Liberty & Justice vs. Daisy & Dementia
21 GIRL $10,000 BATTLE ROYAL
BONUS MATCHES!
Broadway Rose & Hollywood vs. Thunderbolt & Lightning
Mt. Fiji vs. The Widow Woman & Star
Whether it is the best of GLOW or not? It is GLOW at it’s best! All the charm is intact and so much fun to re-experience in the fresh DVD format. The best of the past, combined with the new format of today. I found myself stopping and starting, backing up, freeze framing “nice and clear” on the moves. Great way to watch GLOW! And it was fun to watch the excitement along with the live audience cheering… Especially when they cheered for Hollywood more than the Good Girls in despair!
Hollywood was in peak performance as was Roxy -with her powerful wrestling style. As Hollywood verses Roxy Astor was a very quick paced and exciting 2nd match. They were well suited for each other in a single bout. Definitely one of the highlight matches of the collection…
The fun and antics of MTV–Melody Trouble Vixen were inescapable from the very moment they introduced her on the 1st match, against Babe the Farmers Daughter... MTV not only mocked Babe’s country costume, but gave Johnny C her version of a “Babe peck-on-the-cheek”… Even this straight faced Russian couldn’t stop laughing. And that was not enough, MTV wrote a song to humiliate Babe (and herself with that disgraceful singing –dare we call it that…sorry MTV.) No spoilers on the wrestling… just be sure you see this one too.
The 3rd match: Well, it is no secret about my bias when it comes to opinions on the wrestlers “Liberty and Justice”... So I will just say that this match was interesting to see Daisy’s slave-driver “Gremlina” do her thing, (or not?) Along with the ever tall lean Daisy, move the way only she can. That dwarf creature -was a vocal phenomenon from start to finish, “it” screamed throughout the match! Then there was the silent Dememtia…
The next big treat is the Battle Royal. Really 21 Ladies -I counted all of them: Godiva, Widow Woman, Sneaky, Stinky, Brunhilda, Big Bad Mama, MTV, Hollywood , Major Tanya, Star, Beastie, Daisy; and Tiffany, Roxy, Lightning, Mt. Fiji, Zelda, Cheyenne Cher, Vicky Victory, Babe the FD, Tulsa. Now this is excitement no matter how you look at it… Which I would suggest you have your remote control in hand. There is more action than the cameras and commentator can possible catch!
After all that, there are still 2 Bonus matches! The match Hollywood & Broadway Rose verses Thunderbolt & Lightning an absolute GLOW classic. Seeing Broadway Rose and Hollywood together -what a team of attitude and unusual creative use of skill. Thunderbolt and Lightning had their work cut out for them alright!
In between the matches are the sketches and usual GLOW antics. But those of you that claim you don’t like them??? DVD, it is in you hand now! -I think you should give them another chance … “GLOW is great, GLOW is fun, GLOW will always be no. 1!” (Da, maybe the cheerleaders had something after all?) J
Get your DVD right away at:
